BTF Episode 22: Permission to Fail

BTF 022: Permission to Fail
BTF 022: Permission to Fail

In which I reflect on how I learned to fail, relearn how to spin cotton and promptly not have time to do anything else, spin some Gecko Shetland, talk about fibre characteristics and the ‘rules’ for preparation choice, make some project progress, announce the Side Bet winners, beg for recipe ideas, and don’t make any progress on the Tapestry, but find out who designed it! Thanks for listening!

Food idea: you have a slow cooker, I assume – do you have a food mill? They are awesome (see Golda’s Kitchen online). Put whatever veggies you have/like in slow cooker and cook to mushy. Run through food mill to remove seeds/thick bits like from broccoli/etc (thus no stressful prep like peeling tomatoes and stuff). Put back in slow cooker with a bit of water if need be, spices as you enjoy (cumin, coriander, curry are always good choices) and heat through. Voila: veggie soup. Or if very thick, eat with rice as curried veggies. Flavourful.

Chickpeas in curry sauce over rice. Meat in curry sauce over rice. Tomato + onion in blender, slice and brown meat in frying pan with garlic and cumin, add blendered tomato/onion. Simmer. Serve over rice.

Highly recommend Madhur Jaffrey’s World Vegetarian as well, for lots of really great ideas and flavourful foods.
