BTF Episode 74: A Random Sad

In which I work through a day’s worth of sadness, make some plans for spinning yarn, talk about how my Level 4 final project went (hint: badly), finish the Hedgerow mittens and make some more progress on other projects, feel guilty about not working with the Autoknitter, and make a promise about the Accolade. Thanks for listening!

I was touched by your essay this week. I want to give you a heartfelt YES! Please talk about these things. The holiday season is so hard for a lot of people for a lot of reasons and I think it’s so unreasonable to expect everyone to buy into the we must be jolly attitude. The end of one year, the start of another and so many people frantically spouting happiness can be so difficult not only for those with emotional or psychological problems but for everyone.
This is my first Christmas without my mother. I was expecting that to be hard but since I am relieved that she no longer suffers from dementia and the fears that come with it, it Was much easier to bear. I have 2 brothers, though, that were recently diagnosed with bad cancers. Both are younger than me and have started on a very difficult course. Sad. Yes, very. But I too acknowledged it, cried a bit and then moved on to make a quiet and peaceful Christmas for my sons and husband.

Linda, I’m so happy you were able to have a good Christmas and acknowledge your feelings. Thank you so much for your comment. Sending much love to you and your family.
